![]() Dr Gerald MaclaurinGerald is a medical doctor, psychotherapist and Process Work Diplomat in Auckland, New Zealand. He has particular interests in working with body symptoms and illness, as well as relationship counselling and group facilitation.
His early work experience includes six years as a rural medical officer in the highlands of Papua New Guinea where he discovered the relativity of our human value systems particularly as they relate to health care, healing and our relationship expectations. In New Zealand he practiced as a rural GP and since 1987 as a psychotherapist and then supervisor for counsellors and psychotherapists. He also supervises teams of health workers (Child Psychiatrists, Paediatricians, and Psychologists in the fields of Mental Health, Chronic Pain, Eating Disorders, Inpatient Psychiatric Services, Paediatric Palliative Care and Sexual Health.) Gerald’s interests include the integration of Neuroscience into Psychotherapy, and he runs a weekly therapy group experimenting with this process. He also believes that the tradition of Psychodynamic Psychotherapy has much to offer to Process Work. Last year he travelled to the Ukraine and Palestine to participate in Deep Democracy Institute training under Dr Max Schupbach and feels a passionate commitment to the importance of group experience for personal and collective growth.
