Vicki Henricks

OUR PEOPLE

Vicki is the Director of Byron International Coaching Centre and has more than 30 years’ experience working as a life and executive coach. Her background in counselling and psychotherapy brings a deep understanding of personal process. She has specialised in personal, organisational and community development, working locally, nationally and internationally.  Vicki has extensive experience working in cross-cultural settings and with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in Australia.

Vicki was introduced to Process Work through a series of synchronous events in 1993 when Dr Max Schupach came to her hometown Byron Bay and invited her to his workshop.

She thought Max’s facilitation was magic, even though Max insisted that it could be learned.  Since then, Vicki has been on a continuous learning journey which took her to the Process Work Institute in the USA where she completed her Masters in Process Work. She continues to study with Max at Deep Democracy Institute seminars and over the years attended many of the seminars of the late Dr Arnold Mindell. She was also part of the facilitation team at World Work seminars in Poland and Greece.

In 2014, Vicki co-founded the Global Coaching Institute offering accredited process oriented coach training.  For seven years she trained hundreds of coaches in Europe, Japan, China, USA, and Australia. She now also works as an accredited coach supervisor offering process-oriented coaching supervision.

Vicki’s initial training was in leadership development while working at the Centre for Strategic Leaders in the late 1980s. The Centre’s slogan “Business, government and the community working together for a better world” is still core to Vicki’s work today. Her work as an executive coach is diverse. She provides coaching to executives and teams working on large and small projects, in a variety of industries and government departments.  She also coaches and facilitates community service organisations, environmental groups and intentional communities.

Process work has changed my life.  Its worldview brings magic and meaning to my everyday experiences so life is never boring.  I’ve always thought of myself as “a Jill of all trades” and wanted to specialise in “one thing”.  When process work found me, I was thrilled that finally I had discovered the “one thing” to focus on, only to find out that process work was very eclectic. I was excited that its roots were in many of my areas of interest - Jungian psychology, dreamwork, bodywork, group facilitation, quantum physics, indigenous wisdom, Taoism, and shamanism. I guess I’m just meant to be a “Jill of all trades” after all.

Vicki has always had a passion for local community development. She has volunteered in many local community organisations including Byron Community School, Byron Youth Service and Byron Bay Masterplan Committee and is active in local politics.  She and fellow ANZPOP trainer Dr Martin Helmsley also run the Northern Rivers Process Work group as a way of introducing process work into the local community.

Vicki lives in the forest in a community on Arakwal Bundjalung land.  She believes in the healing powers of country and is a daily ocean swimmer.

ANZPOP acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the lands we live and work on, the Aboriginal Australian, and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and the Maori First Nations peoples. We pay respect to their elders across time. We give thanks for the Indigenous knowledge that has informed the Process Work approach. We honour the courage, resilience, and spirit of First Nations peoples to counter the ongoing impacts of colonisation on their culture, well-being, and sovereignty.
